WAPA Experiencing Widespread Isolated Outages

July 5, 2005 – The V.I. Water and Power Authority is currently experiencing numerous service interruptions on St. Croix due to the inclement weather surrounding the area.
There are presently as many as thirty different areas scattered throughout the island without electricity due to heavy winds and lightning strikes. WAPA's line personnel has been working since approximately 2:30 p.m. today to restore service to all affected areas.
It is expected that heavy wind, rain and lightening will continue throughout the evening and there is a strong possibility that other areas may eventually be affected. WAPA has all available line department personnel in the field working to restore service as quickly as possible.
Customers are asked to report service interruptions by calling either 773-0150 or 773-2250.
