Free Summer Enrichment Program offered at UVI St. Croix

May 28, 2005 – The University of the Virgin Islands St. Croix campus is accepting applications for a free 10-day summer enrichment institute: Intellect to Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Intellect to STEM places an emphasis on robotics and NetLOGO, a computer-coding program that enables users to produce computer games, scientific models and intricate designs.
NetLOGO users develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as logic. Robotics participants will assemble and program robots to play tunes, simulate excavation activities on Mars, and perform other activities.
A limited number of spots are available and there is no cost to participants. The institute will take place weekdays from 9 a.m. until noon and from 1 until 4 p.m. Students may bring their lunch or purchase lunch at the UVI St. Croix campus cafeteria.
Applications can be picked up at the UVI Science and Mathematics Division office or faxed copies of the application may be obtained from Miss Chichester at 692-4150. The application deadline is Friday, June 10, 2005.
