Healthy Lives for Virgin Islands Youth Workshop

May 17, 2005 – The Virgin Islands Institute for Teaching and Learning is presenting "Healthy Lives for Virgin Islands Youth 2005," a free workshop for youth program leaders from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, May 20. The one day workshop will be held at the Faith Wesleyan Holiness Church in Estate Tutu.
The workshop will provide hands on training in strategies for preventing drug and alcohol abuse in teens, as well as guidance on health issues, and adolescent and teen anger management. The interactive workshop will be facilitated by Yolanda George, the deputy director of the American Association for the Advancement of Science Health Connection Project.
"This workshop is a free opportunity to acquire materials and training from one of the nation's top health organizations," said Karen Gutloff, executive director of Virgin Islands Institute for Teaching and Learning. "Youth program leaders will leave the workshop with specific activities and resources they can use with young people to increase their health awareness."
