Oprah Deserves a Vacation—Let Her Rest!

Dear Source:
Young males are often taught not to show emotion, especially tears. Crying for some men is very taboo. Even during certain occasions when women state that it is OK for men to cry, most men still rather not cry–at least not publicly.
Men are also teased for watching certain shows, and the Oprah Show falls into that category. However, within the last two years I have become a faithful watcher. I have laughed cried learned and felt personally touched. My emotions have run the gamut, and I am a man that has learned to appreciate the Oprah Show and all that her show can provide the watcher.
I think the Oprah Show is informative and focused as it has the capacity to make each of us who watches better people. By becoming better people we make, or can make, a better world by the way we interact with each other. However this letter is not about the Oprah Show, but about the unrealistic expectations some islanders have placed on Oprah.
Yes she was here with her staff of the O Magazine last month. However she was not obligated to mingle with the locals or to attend functions, as it appears her purpose was to gather information for an article.
So with all that Ms. Winfrey does in the world (and for the world) why does she not have the right to take a real vacation without addressing the needs of everyone, every place and every time? Just because she is Oprah Winfrey why does she not deserve to enjoy her time off as would any other individual on vacation?
Although, she did not visit with the locals she did us all a favor by maybe featuring the Virgin Islands in one of her upcoming O Magazines. She could have picked any vacation spot on the planet. But she chose the Virgin Islands. The fact that the Virgin Islands may be featured in her magazine could translate into revenue–revenue which is immensely needed here in the territory. The O Magazine is read worldwide any mention of the Virgin Islands would be free advertisement which translates into the potential for tourists.
Tourists equal dollars, so can you imagine my amazement when individuals were calling into the radio talk shows to complain that Oprah was here on vacation and did not have any function.
The key here is Oprah was on VACATION. The Mouth Warriors (those that fight with their mouth, instead of taking positive action) have so many things to complain about; most are large on complaints and small on solutions.
