Jamie Keys Wins Easter Cycling Race

March 28, 2005 – Like a two-wheeled Papa Gepetto, Jamie Keys pulled all the strings during Sunday’s North Shore Road Race. Keys, of the Endurance Sports team, toyed with his opposition all race long. His powerful attacks shattered the field, and like a cruel puppet master, he would slow, allowing a regrouping, only to accelerate again and crush the hopes of his rivals.
His winning time of the 35-mile event was 1 hour 44 minutes and six seconds. Sue Brown of Cruzan Sprockets was second in 1:45:27, with Sprocket John Frongillo third in 1:46:59.
However, there was no game playing in the Expert and Sport categories.
In the 23-mile Expert race, both youth and experience had their days in the sun. Veterans Ronnie Christopher and Chris Dorsey were locked in battle with students Tyler Jowasais and Khamal Russell. Christopher took the win in the exciting, four man sprint finish in 1:14:56. Jowasais and Russell were second in third, in the same time.
In the 11.5-mile Sport race, Scott Fricks notched his first win, out kicking Dick Isherwood and Mike Hill in the final 50 meters. Kathy LaGrange won the one-lap women’s event.
