March 7, 2005 — Helena Rosita Horsford Smith, better known as "Nen Nen" or "Mother Smith" of Estate Thomas died on Feb. 28 at her residence. She was 85 years old.
Smith is survived by her son, Joseph Stevenson Scotland; grandson, Noel Scotland; brothers, Gilbert Romeo and Samuel Horsford; nieces, Ianthe Baines, Arlene Romeo-Ware, Judy, Shirley and Sarah Horsford, Althea Romeo-Mark, and Una Allen; nephews, Ewin Dorsette, Fitzroy, Alfread, Patrice, Duran, Everton, David, Wayne, Lyndon, Danis, Steve and Victor Horsford; sisters-in-law, Madaline, Marie and Lorna Horsford; daughters-in-law, Cynthia, Melba and Evelyn James; special friends, Almin Thompson and Alvin "Buc" Henderson; care takers, Yvonne Gomez and Christiana Smith; special nephew-in-law, Ezra Pigott; granddaughter, Philirine Smith-Wade; grandson-in-law, Alphonso Wade III; grandsons, Walton B. Smith Sr. and Patrick Smith Sr.; grandchildren, Sylvester Burt Jr., Joshua Phillip, Makeda, Taharqa and Hadiya Wade, Shamra, Walton Jr., Patrick Jr., Vanroy and Tishell Smith; many other relatives and friends.
The first viewing will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Davis Funeral Home Chapel. The second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion New Testament Church, with the funeral services following at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Memorial Moravian Cemetery.
