Colin Powell Visits St. John

March 1, 2005 – Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has been vacationing at the Westin Resort on St. John since Sunday, officials said Tuesday.
Powell, in shorts and collared T-shirt, was beaching it on a chaise lounge Tuesday morning, enjoying the tail end of his Caribbean stop in the shade of an umbrella.
On Monday, Powell addressed a convention of Philip Morris USA sales executives, according to Dana Bolden, a spokesman for the Richmond, Va.-based tobacco giant.
The former Bush Cabinet member said he was on St. John "in a personal capacity," and declined to comment further on his vacation, or on his address to the executives.
He arrived at the Westin on Sunday and is scheduled to return to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, said Peggy Cifrino, a Powell spokeswoman.
