Keep the Linen Clean

Dear Source:
I found the following quote from Warren Mosler's letter to the editor in the Source most interesting.
"With our own delegate lobbying against our ability to manage our affairs, and washing our dirty linen in front of the Congress, it makes it doubly difficult for our elected officials, official spokespersons, and even private citizens to subsequently lobby on our behalf for participation in other federal programs."
I have my own thoughts about Delegate Christensen's advocacy of an independent CFO to monitor the territory's spending; it probably wouldn't be much more effective than it was way back when the Interior Department had a controller scrutinizing the Virgin Islands' books. The dirty linen itself is the problem, and not the act of exposing it before Congress. And the solution to the problem lies in the islands and not Washington, DC. The electorate is the solution to the problem, and it must act to ensure that those elected will keep the linen clean .
