Toast-To-The Captain Road Race Set

Jan. 21, 2004 – The 19th Annual Toast-To-The-Captain Road Race will be held on Saturday Feb. 5 at 6 a.m. The 8.4-mile race celebrates Captain Teddy Seymour, the first Black man to sail around the world alone. The St.Croix sailor and elementary school teacher in the Virgin Islands public school system, set sail on February 24, 1986 from the pier in Frederiksted, St.Croix where he returned on June 19, 1987. The race begins and ends near the Customs House in Christiansted.
