Governor Goes to DC to Discuss EDC

Nov. 8, 2004 – Gov. Charles W, Turnbull has departed the territory to attend meetings in Washington, D.C.
He is scheduled to meet with Ruben Barrales, assistant to the president and director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, and other officials to discuss specific ways the impact of the new tax law changes can be mitigated through the issuance of temporary regulations.
In an Oct. 14 press conference, Turnbull said, "I have been advised that the White House is aware of the situation and is looking into ways to mitigate any negative impact on the EDC program."(See " White House Engaged in EDC Mitigation Efforts ").
He is also scheduled to meet with the Secretary of Interior Gale Norton.
