Continuing Student Advisement and Spring Semester Registration Under Way
The 2005 Spring semester registration for returning students on the St. Croix campus is scheduled for Nov. 2-12. For more information call the Academic Services office on St. Croix at 692-4158.
The 2005 Spring semester registration for returning students on the St. Thomas campus is scheduled for Nov. 5-10 for undergraduate students and Nov. 11-12 for part-time and graduate students. For more information call the Admission office at 693-1150.
The 2005 Spring semester begins on Jan. 13, 2005 and ends on May 8, 2005.
Spring class schedules for both campuses are now available on the UVI Academics page of the UVI web site at www.uvi.edu.
Following advisement, students are encouraged to register online. Online registration links are also available from the UVI home page.
UVI St. Croix Campus to Host International Literature Conference Nov. 3 – 5
The University of the Virgin Islands, in partnership with Morehouse College and Indiana University/ Purdue, will host the Sixth International Conference on Caribbean Literature from Nov. 3 to 5 on the St. Croix campus. The Official Opening Ceremony and Cultural Extravaganza, featuring keynote speaker Kamau Brathwaite, are scheduled 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3. English Proficiency Exam Set Nov. 4 on St. Thomas, St. Croix Campuses
Students who have registered to take the English Proficiency Examination are reminded that the exam will be administered on both UVI campuses on Thursday, Nov. 4.

Public Invited to Lecture by Founder of Driehaus Capital Management
The public is invited to a free lecture featuring Richard Driehaus, CEO and founder of Driehaus Capital Management, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, in Chase Auditorium (Business Education room 110) on UVI's St. Thomas campus. The presentation is titled "Unconventional Wisdom for the Conventional Investor." Topics to be discussed include: investment strategies for investors (asset allocations, market timing, portfolio management), investment paradigms ("truths") worth avoiding and stock market outlooks. Driehaus will also offer personal tips. Driehaus Capital Management is an EDC company located in the Tunick Building on Thomas. No reservations are required to attend the lecture. St. Croix Golden Key Plans General Meeting Nov. 5
The St. Croix chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society will conduct a General Membership Meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at the Great House Conference Room on the St. Croix campus. For more information call 692-4181.
Miss UVI Ambassadorial Pageant Set for Nov. 6
Three young ladies from the University of the Virgin Islands will compete for one of the school's most prestigious titles in the Miss UVI Ambassadorial Pageant scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Reichhold Center for the Arts on the St. Thomas campus. SBDC Sets 'Choosing a Business' Seminar on St. Thomas
The UVI Small Business Development Center will conduct a seminar entitled "Choosing a Business" from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, at the Small Business Development Center Training Facility on St. Thomas. The seminar, the first in a series of seven, is designed for potential business owners, business owners, students and employees. Admission is $20 for each seminar. Those who pre-register will receive a 25 percent discount on each seminar. UVI and high school students (with I.D.) and UVI employees are admitted free, however, they must pre-register. TV's 'Boston Legal' Consulting Producer to Present Free Lecture at Reichhold
The Forum in conjunction with the University of the Virgin Islands Reichhold Center for the Arts will present a free lecture-demonstration by Robert Breech, senior vice president of David E. Kelley Productions Inc., at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the Reichhold Center. David E. Kelley Productions Inc. is the producer of several drama series including "The Practice," "Ally McBeal," "Picket Fences" and "Chicago Hope." Breech served eight seasons as executive producer of "The Practice" and is now a consulting producer on ABC's "Boston Legal." He is working on a legal reality show slated to begin in November.
Breech will discuss the creative process that goes into the production of a one-hour drama in the Kelley organization. He will also explain relationship that exists between writers, producers and actors; the physical demands of production; and the give-and-take among the writers and legal advisers. A question and answer session will follow. The public is invited.
Early Childhood Literature, Literacy and Languages Conference Set
The third annual V.I. Early Childhood Literature, Literacy and Languages Conference will be held Nov. 13 and 14 on the St. Thomas campus of the University of the Virgin Islands. Day one of the conference will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, in Chase Auditorium (Business Building Room 110).

UVI Concert Choir Recital Scheduled Nov. 14 in Charlotte Amalie
The University of the Virgin Islands Concert Choir will hold a recital featuring music students, faculty and friends at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14, at Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charlotte Amalie. The UVI Community and the general public are invited. Tickets – $10 for adults and $5 for students and children under 12 – are available at the UVI Bookstore, by calling 776-1315, or at the door.
UVI's Little Theatre to Present 'The Mousetrap' Nov. 19-22
The UVI Little Theatre will present Agatha Christie's long running mystery play "The Mousetrap" from Nov. 19 through 22, in the Little Theatre, located on the second floor of the Classroom Administration Building on the St. Thomas campus. Curtain time will be 8 p.m. each evening. For more information, call 693-1341.
IASTED Conference Series Set Nov. 22-24 at Frenchman's
The International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED) will conduct a conference series focusing on computer science, information technology, and environmental modeling and simulation at Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott and Beach Resort from Nov. 22 through 24.
