Oct. 21, 2004 – Visitors to the University of the Virgin Islands campus will be able to find their destination more easily thanks to new information kiosks recently installed at both the St. Thomas and St. Croix locations. UVI administration and members of the Board of Trustees cut the ribbons on the new addition over the weekend.
The information kiosks will aid visitors by providing a listing of campus events, background information about the university and a campus map, Jennifer Jackson, UVI chancellor for the St. Croix campus, said. A telephone that provides direct access to the campus operator will be added to the kiosks' features shortly.
The University of the Virgin Islands' St. Thomas campus spans 175 acres; the St. Croix campus is 130 acres. Both campuses have a library, residence halls, administration and academic buildings and recreational facilities. The St. Thomas campus features the Center for Marine and Environmental Studies, the Reichhold Center for the Arts, the multi-purpose Sports and fitness center and a golf course. The St. Croix Campus features the historic Greathouse, the research and extension center which houses the Cooperative Extension Service and the biotechnology laboratory, and the Agricultural Experiment Station.
