Public School Third-Graders Receive Dictionaries

Oct. 14, 2004 – Over 1,600 third-grade students at each of the St. Thomas and St. John district elementary schools received a dictionary on Tuesday as part of the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands' annual dictionary distribution.
"Providing each third-grader with a dictionary is clearly a worthwhile project," Lisa Forde, assistant principal at the Lockhart Elementary School, said in a release.
"CFVl is providing our schools and our children with a valuable teaching resource that the students can take home and use to continue their studies," she said.
During the visit to Lockhart Elementary School, approximately 100 dictionaries were distributed to students in the third grade.
The foundation solicits donations from local businesses in order to provide various services to public school students.
