Nailing Political Posters to Trees Is Illegal

Sept. 30, 2004 — The Department of Agriculture has issued an advisory to political candidates and other advertisers that it is a violation of public law to nail political posters and other paraphernalia on trees throughout the territory.
Title 12; Chapter 3; Section 124 of the V. I. Code provides a maximum penalty of six months in prison for violation of this law.
According to a press release from the department, all political candidates, their campaign organizations, and other advertisers are placed on notice to immediately remove any advertisements nailed to trees and are warned that further violation of this provision with result in legal ramifications.
