Cancellations, Postponements Due to Rain, Flooding

Sept. 17, 2004 – Here are announced cancellations, postponements, early dismissals and other actions of community interest taken in relation to the flooding following Tropical Storm Jeanne. This posting is being updated continually as information becomes available.

Of Territorywide Interest
– Clinics scheduled at the Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinics on St. Thomas and St. Croix have been cancelled for Friday.
– The "First Annual Public/Private Sector Outreach Export Promotion and Trade Remedies Seminar" at Carambola Beach Resort scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Sept. 16 and 17 has been postponed until further notice.
Transportation
– Ferries between St. Thomas and St. John are running on schedule.
Government
– All public schools are closed Friday. Administrative staff is expected to report, however.
University of the Virgin Islands
– The St. Thomas and St.Croix campuses of the University of the Virgin Islands are open Friday. Administrative offices and classes will resume a normal schedule. There are no emergency procedures in effect at this time.
St. Thomas
– Plans for September 19 – 25 to commemorate the Paul M, Pearson's Garden's 50th Year Anniversary are postponed. They are rescheduled to October 3-9, 2004.
– Wesleyan Academy is closed Friday.
– Virgin Islands Montessori School is open Friday.
– Antilles School is closed Friday. Staff and faculty are asked to report as usual.
– Sea Chest Tent Sale scheduled for Saturday is canceled.
– The EAST Reef Bay trail hike scheduled for Saturday is canceled.
St. John
– St John Christian Academy is closed Friday.
– The EAST Reef Bay trail hike scheduled for Saturday is canceled.
St. Croix
– The St. Joseph Church Children Choir announces that, due to inclement weather, its Yard Sale of Saturday, September 18, 2004, is rescheduled to Saturday, September 25.
– St. Mary's Catholic School is closed Friday. Faculty and staff are to report.
– St. Patrick's School is closed Friday. Faculty and staff are to report.
– St. Joseph's School is closed Friday. Faculty and staff are to report.
– Friday's Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted is canceled.
