September 1, 2004 – Homicide detectives of the V.I. Police Department are seeking the community's assistance in learning more about the shooting death of a man whose bullet-riddled body was found Tuesday morning on the southeast end of St. Thomas.
Police said Tuesday they have no motive, no suspects and have not recovered the weapon or weapons used in the shooting. Residents of Bolongo Bay called police around 1 a.m. to report shots fired and to report a dark-colored vehicle speeding away from the area. Sgt. Thomas Hannah, police spokesman, said that minutes later, "patrol units found a man lying at the end of a dead-end road with several gunshots to the body." The identity of the black male was not immediately known, but law enforcement sources said he was in his 20s.
"This is one of those cases where there are a lot of unknowns," Hannah said as he urged anyone with information to contact police at 774-2211 or the emergency 911.
The murder is the ninth in the St. Thomas – St. John district in 2004 and the territory’s 23rd killing.
