July 24, 2004 – George Matthew, 72, died July 21 at his home in Anna's Retreat.
Viewing and funeral will be July 31 at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation. The viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m., with services following at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Coki Point Cemetery.
Known as "George Gumb" or "George Brush," he is survived by his wife, Aimee Matthew; son, Austin Matthew; daughters, Lerozine Jackson, Merlene Rogers, Francine Matthew; brother, Prince Gumbs; stepson, Donald Owens; stepdaughters, Charlene Knight and Corlis David; three grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and many other friends and relatives.
