Writer Says Teachers' Salaries Are Too Low

Dear Source,
Let's get serious here, how can anyone support himself or herself on this salary here? See Education Looking to Fill 76 Teacher Vacancies Not only is this not enough for a teacher, but it is an insult to people who give and keep on giving long after that bell rings at the end of the day.
What would compel a person to teach here given the high cost of living, the fact that teachers never get their raises, and it seems no one except the teachers and children who learn from them have any respect for what they do?
When the education department raises their standards they need to raise the salary also. Let's get real here.
