Teachers Hired In 2003 Required To Sign New Offers

July 17, 2004 – The V.I. Department of Education is verifying that all teachers hired last year have either completed their requirements or have immediate plans to do so for the upcoming year.
A press release from Alscess Lewis-Brown, director of Human Resources for the department, advises all teachers hired last school year to come in to sign their teaching employment offers for the upcoming school year.
She indicated that each teacher's offer letter stipulates that the offer was being made for one year with the provision that they complete, certain outstanding requirements including, the Praxis I Examination and a course in V. I. History.
The release states, teachers will be required to provide verification of successfully completing both the exam and course. Teachers, who have not met this requirement, should provide a certified letter of assurance outlining their plans to meet these outstanding requirements.
For information contact the Human Resource Offices at 773-1095 on St. Croix or 774-0100 on St. Thomas.
