Peacemaker Awards to Be Bestowed at Westin

July 13, 2004 – Family Resource Center will hold its popular fundraiser known as the Peacemaker Award at a new location this year – The Westin Resort on St. John.
The Peacemaker Award is given to individuals in the community who have promoted peace and a nonviolent lifestyle in their personal and/or professional lives. The event will take place on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 21.
The honorees for 2004 are Juel T. R. Molloy, the Territorial Court Rising Stars Steel Orchestra and possibly you.
From her days as commissioner of Social Welfare, and commissioner of Human Services to her current position as chief of staff for Gov. Charles W. Turnbull, Juel Molloy has dedicated many years of service to the community. She has volunteered tirelessly, and has been a member of several organizations including the Criminal Victims Compensation Commission and the Governor’s Commission on Children, Youth and Families.
According to a press release from the Resource Center, "Molloy truly exemplifies the high standards of the Peacemaker Award."
Also, according to the press release, "Founded by former Presiding Judge Verne Hodge, the Rising Stars are the ambassadors of goodwill for the U.S. Virgin Islands. For the past twenty-three years, the Rising Stars have been fulfilling their mission of preventing juvenile delinquency and school dropout while providing musical education for thousands of V.I. youth. They continue to spread peace and love throughout the community and the rest of the world."
Special awards will be given to the local business and also to the Virgin Islands’ resident who makes the largest donation. Donations may be monetary or in-kind in nature.
A Peacemaker Award commemorative booklet will be produced for the event. To place an advertisement in the booklet, sending your congratulations to the honorees, or to make a donation call 776-3966. The profits from the booklet will contribute funds to victims of crime in this community.
Tickets for the event will be $100 per person. Tickets will be available within a couple of weeks from the following locations: Modern Music-all locations, Draughting Shaft, Sweet Kisses-Tutu Park Mall, Sunrise Pharmacy-Red Hook and Vitraco Park and Family Resource Center.
