Delegate in Miami for Party, Braintrust Meetings

July 9, 2004 – Delegate Donna M. Christensen is in Miami this weekend attending meetings of the Democratic Party's platform committee in preparation for the national convention taking place July 26-29 in Boston.
Christensen serves as a whip to the platform committee and heads the V.I. delegation on the panel.
"The platform committee creates the party's policy statement as we move into the heart of the election season and toward the convention," Christensen said in a release issued on Friday. "We will be working to include Virgin Islands concerns and minority health concerns as part of the national focus."
While in Miami, according to the release, Christensen also will attend a meeting of the Tri-Caucus Health Braintrust, a gathering of congressional members of the Black, Hispanic and Native American Caucuses. The meeting is to address minority health issues as they relate to communities in Florida.
Christensen, who chairs the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, said the meeting represents "a continuation of our efforts to promote the Health Care Equality and Accountability Act."
