Humane Society Golf Scramble A Special Father's Day

June 22, 2004 – It was a special Father's Day for the first place winners of the Humane Society's Annual Red White and Blue Golf Scramble June 20 at the Mahogany Run Golf Course. The first place team led by Mr. Smith Sr., a Mahogany run legend, received a standing ovation when Sam Topp announced its net score of 51. The team included Smith Sr., Smith Jr., Michael Ross and Wilfred David. Other winners included:
Second Place: Judi and Bill Coker, Bill Anderson and Mark Bastin, Net score 51.
Third Place: Art Egger, John Streibich, Peter and Julie Caproni, Net score 52.
Closet to the Pin: Mae Lohman – Hole 4, Wylie Pirkle – Hole 8.
Longest Drive: Lisa Schmid – Hole 9, Bill Anderson – Hole 3.
Thirty teams, of 115 golfers, participated in a best-ball scramble that raised over $18,000 for the operation of the shelter. This was about $5,000 more than was raised last year. Event organizers also found homes for Maxwell, a cocker spaniel, and a gray, shorthaired cat.

Rodriquez, and many businesses that contributed to the raffle and volunteers.
