Daniel Locker, St. Thomas Dentist, Dies in New York

June 22, 2004 – Dr. Daniel H. Locker, a longtime St. Thomas dentist, died over the Memorial Day weekend in New York City following a brief illness.
Locker, who began his dental practice on St. Thomas in 1971, was 80.
A native New Yorker, he was a graduate of New York University and a former captain in the U.S. Army. On St. Thomas, he was an active Rotarian and in that capacity was instrumental in getting the Kids And The Sea (KATS) marine activities program for children started.
A lover of intelligent literature and classical music, he was known for his daily afternoon swims at Secret Harbour and for always having a joke ready at hand.
He is survived by his wife, Gesine; sons Matt and Josh; and two brothers, along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces on the U.S. mainland.
Plans for a memorial service will be announced. His family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the new Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute, 9048 Sugar Estate, St Thomas VI 00802-9048.
