V.I. Basketball Teams in Cuba for Championships

June 14, 2004 – The V.I. Basketball Federation announces the selection of the Senior Men and Senior Women National Teams who are competing for the 17th Caribbean Basketball Championships that began June 12 in Santiago, Cuba.
The V.I. Senior Men are the defending champions, having won the gold medal game in the 2002 championships held in St. Thomas.
The V.I. Senior Women captured the bronze medal in 2002 and qualified to move on to the Central American and Caribbean Basketball Championships.
On the Senior Men's team, listed in the order set by the press release, are: Steven Hodge, Kevin Sheppard, Alphonso Niles, Rick Lewis, Marcus Oliver, George O'Garro, Jason Williams, Andy Chelcher, Sohi Frazer, Kaylen Gregory, Marques Brathwaite, and Jaja Richards.
The Senior Women's team includes: Damarah Rhymer, Shaquana Wilkins, Deslyn Heywood, Regina Robles, Tamara Petersen, Ja'Keema Richards, Latonya Brann, Sheawyond Williams, Lauren Larsen, Jeree Estrill, Blanca Larsen, and Zena Lawrence.
The Senior Men are coached by head coach Tevester Anderson, with assistants Glenn "Kimble Williams" and Donald Bough. The Senior Women are coached by head coach Geneva Morgan, with assistants Myron Corbett and Derrick Miller.
