Hintz Academy of Music Sets Summer Program

June 13, 2004 – The Hintz Academy of Music is at it once again, enrolling students for the fifth annual Musical Summer Fun Camp.
More than 150 kids have participated in the camp's musical activities and experienced dramatic growth each summer. Research shows the great influence music has on children's academic and social development: especially in the areas of math, reading, language, computer literacy, problem solving, thinking skills, and self-esteem, a release said.
The diverse curriculum at Hintz Academy of Music includes sign language, Spanish, reading, arts & crafts, pottery, yoga, dance, music theory and appreciation. Children grasp a better understanding of music by exploring a variety of instruments such as piano, violin, viola, guitar, flute, drums, and handbells. This hands-on approach captures every child's attention. Special workshops on manners, health, patience and other social skills are also offered throughout the four-week session.
Children from ages 3 to 13 enjoy a sense of camaraderie and leadership among themselves while participating in activities. A special half-day program has been developed for children aged 3 to 5. These students participate in the new music introduction course called Musikgarten, which incorporates rhythm instruments and exercises, tonal development, exposure to different styles of music, poetry, story time and focused listening. This class is also offered as a year-round course with parent participation.
The campers all look forward to field trips taking place at least once a week. Previous trips include Magens Bay beach, Coki beach, Coral World, Sapphire beach, St. Thomas Dairies and Solberg Farm. All campers have a chance to display their hidden talents and artwork at the end-of-summer concert held on the stage at Tillett Gardens. All friends, family members and future campers are welcome to see the children's accomplishments on July 30 at 5:30 p.m. We encourage you to introduce your child to the arts in all its forms while learning from their peers and becoming potential future stars!
