DPNR Investigating Sewage Spill in Golden Rock

June 4, 2004 – A sewage overflow from a manhole in Estate Golden Rock between the Carib Villas housing complex and Sugar Beach Condominiums was under investigation Friday by the Environmental Protection Division of the Planning and Natural Resources Department.
In a public advisory issued on Friday afternoon, DPNR Commissioner Dean Plaskett advised the public to avoid the area around the overflow, noting that standing or running water in the area "may contain contaminants or pollutants harmful to human health."
DPNR "will continue to monitor the impacted area," the advisory stated. It said questions concerning water quality should be directed to the Environmental Protection Division office at 773-1082.
