May 12, 2004 – Caribbean Community Theatre's production of "Play It Again, Sam" is just opening on Friday, but on Monday and Tuesday the company is holding auditions for its next production, a comedy by Del Shores called "Cheatin.'"
Needed are male and female actors ages 18 and up. Performance dates are the nights of June 18-19 and 25-26 plus a matinee on June 27.
Debby Babb will direct the production.
Tryouts are at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the theater facility in Estate Orange Grove behind the Pueblo supermarket and the new St. Croix Animal Shelter flea market, between St. Croix Insurance and Long Reef Condominiums.
"Play It Again, Sam" is on the boards for the nights of May 14-15, 21-22, 28-29 and a matinee on May 30.
Next up after "Cheatin'" will be "What the Butler Saw," a farce by Joe Orton to be directed by Marty Merrick. Auditions for this show are set for June 21 and 22. Show times are the nights of July 23-24 and 30-31 and a matinee on Aug. 1.
There's one other production on the CCT summer calendar: Cruzan Dance Performance produced by Alexander Simon, a one-night show on July 10.
Meanwhile, CCT personnel are reading scripts for possible productions next season, which opens in October and will run through May 2005. Some of the shows being considered are "Real Women Have Curves," "Steel Magnolias," 'The Full Monty," 'The Art of Dining," 'Jest a Second" and "Li'l Abner." Public input is welcome.
