May 8, 2004 – The Department of Education's St. Croix Reading Campaign invites parents, educators and the public to the second annual Reading Campaign. Conference, "Identifying Reading Challenges," May 15, Saturday, at the University of the Virgin Islands Library Terrace, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The fee is $10 and includes lunch.
Zoraida E. Jacobs, coordinator for the campaign, stated in a recent press release that the conference will provide information on understanding reading and diagnostic test results and how to help children achieve social and academic success.
Workshops include, the Gifted Child, Dyslexia, School/Parents Partnership to Improve Children's Reading Skills, Strategies for Working with Learning Disabled Students, Resources Available to Home Schoolers, Experiencing Success with Special Needs Children, and Working With Children Who Have been Abused.
