WHITE ENCOURAGED AFTER ATTENDING HUD RECEIVER BOARD MEETING

Senator Celestino A. White, Sr., said he was encouraged by the report he received from the HUD Receiver, after attending the V.I. Housing Authority’s Monthly Board Meeting on February 25, 2004.
Senator White said that he was particularly pleased to learn that the authority is vigorously moving forward to complete the first phase of the Hoffman/Nullyberg development which would create 176 new housing units on St. Thomas.
"Additionally, the authority’s emphasis on rehabilitating 567 vacant units, wherein 120 modules have been converted and leased, is welcome relief to those on the waiting list," Senator White further stated.
"I was encouraged by the news that VIHA continues to provide staff training and the necessary equipment to maximize productivity. During the meeting, it was also revealed that those employees in interim positions will soon be named permanently to those positions. My commitment remains unwavering in support of bringing the authority up to standard and returning it to local control once again," concluded Senator White.
