ARTISTS ASSOCIATION PRESENTING YOUTH SHOW

March 11, 2004 – The spotlight will shine on St. John's artistically talented youth when the Artists Association of St. John holds its first "Arts in Education" exhibit at the Battery in Cruz Bay from March 26 to April 2.
"We wanted to showcase students' art and wanted to get students excited about art," Kimberly Boulon, association president, said.
She said the students are still submitting works for the non-juried show, so how many pieces will be displayed remains to be seen. Friday is the deadline for submissions. Application forms may be downloaded from the St. John Arts Web site and also are available at the Mail Center in the Marketplace.
Boulon said the organization is funding programs aimed at encouraging young people to get involved in art "from as early an age as possible." It plans to make the Arts in Education show an annual event, she said.
The exhibition will open with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. on March 26. After that, it will be open to viewing from noon to 5 p.m. on March 27 and 28, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 29-April 2.
