HENLE STUDIO PRESENTING WORKS BY JERI HILLIS

Feb. 29, 2004 – An exhibition of oil paintings and mixed-media collage works by Jeri Hillis will open on Thursday at Maria Henle Studio in Christiansted with a reception from 5 to 9 p.m.
The show is titled "The Truths of Yesterday," as is one of Hillis's oil paintings in the collection. According to gallery/studio owner Maria Henle, "Iconic images of fragments of our colonial architecture are the subject of the artist's oils on canvas; the collages meld sensitive watercolor and calligraphy with snippets of poetry, found objects and personal text."
The show is the realization of several years of work by Hillis, a longtime St. Croix resident who relocated to Connecticut a year ago. Many of the paintings are being shown for the first time.
Maria Henle Studio is located at 55 Company Street in Christiansted.. The show will hang through March 15. For more information, call 773-7376 or visit the Maria Henle Studio Web site.
