SUNDAY'S TIME TRIALS PROVIDE CYCLING THRILLS

Feb. 23, 2004 — The STX 340 Cycling Club and The Spicy Grill hosted the V.I. Cycling Federation’s annual two-person time trial at the airport. Under nearly perfect conditions, ten teams finished the race. While the conditions made for an exciting event, the race came down to good team tactics as the elite category of 24 miles was won by cyclist Juancito Gario and triathlete Kent Bradbury in 1:01:56, edging out the second-place team by 22 seconds.
The expert category of 12 miles was won by Raymond Brown and Dick Isherwood in 33:45 minutes, with the top three teams coming within 57 seconds of each other. The sport class of 6 miles was won by Jennifer McPherrin and Andy Turner in 22:38 minutes.
The next race on the VICF schedule is the Endurance Sports Sprint Triathlon and Try-a-Tri on March 7th.
