The National Park Service has begun preparing an exotic plant management plan and environmental impact statement that will address issues related to the current and proposed management of exotic plants (non-native invasive plants) in nine national parks. The four Caribbean parks are Virgin Islands National Park, Buck Island Reef National Monument, Christiansted National Historic Site, and Salt River Bay National Historic Park and Ecological Preserve. The five south Florida parks included in this analysis are Big Cypress National Preserve, Biscayne National Park, Canaveral National Seashore, Dry Tortugas National Park, and Everglades National Park.
The National Park Service has scheduled public meetings on St. John and St. Croix. The meetings will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the exotic plant management plan and environmental impact statement, ask questions, and share ideas, issues, and concerns.
We hope to see you at one of these public meetings.
