6 NOMINATED TO ST. CROIX RACING COMMISSION

Feb. 20, 2004 – Lt. Gov. Vargrave Richards in his capacity as acting governor has sent the Legislature the nominations of six persons to serve on the St. Croix Horse Racing Commission.
Nominated to fill vacancies on the commission are Bernadette Messer of Gertrude's Restaurant and Donald Petersen, a U.S. Postal Service employee.
Renominated to continue on the board are Dr. Ralph de Chabert; Elroy Harrison, deputy director of the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency; and Edward Milligan, a Water and Power Authority employee.
And nominated to replace Dr. Olaf Hendricks on the commission is Kurt Vialet, Education Complex High School principal.
All nominations are for three-year terms.
According to a Government House release issued on Thursday, Richards said in his transmittal letter to Senate President David Jones that the Legislature's "prompt and favorable confirmation will allow the commission to continue to meet its busy agenda without interruption."
