UVI BOARD TO VOTE ON BOND ISSUE FUNDING

Feb. 17, 2004 – The University of the Virgin Islands board of trustees will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Research and Extension Center Building on the St. Croix campus.
According to a UVI release, much of the meeting will focus on discussion and presentations by the Finance Committee, chaired by Roy D. Jackson. The board is to vote on the funding of $25 million in capital projects as part of a 2004 General Obligation Improvement Bond issue. And it will decide whether to include a prioritized list of potential capital projects submitted by the Building and Grounds Committee as part of the bond issue.
The board also will be asked to ratify a compensation package for faculty who teach during UVI s summer session.
Also on the agenda are a report from UVI President LaVerne E. Ragster, comments by the board chair, Auguste E. Rimpel Jr., and presentations by the Development Committee and the Academic and Student Affairs Committee.
The UVI board last met on Oct. 18 on the St. Thomas campus.
