Feb. 14, 2004 – On Jan. 25 the United Way Walk-Fun Run on St. Thomas was run and won. A total of 185 persons registered, and a record 158 participated in this fourth annual event. The two-mile route was from the U.S. Coast Guard dock entrance area on the waterfront to Frenchtown and back.
Prizes went to the top runners in adult and youth categories; to the youngest, Nina Randall, whose father says his 1-year-old-plus daughter walked the entire way; and to the most senior, Helen Gjessing, for the second year in a row.
Trophies also went to groups with the most participants: for private companies, to FirstBank; for government, to the Office of Management and Budget; for organizations, to the Total Fitness exercise group.
