DEMOCRATIC DELEGATE APPLICATIONS BEING TAKEN

Feb. 9, 2004 – V.I. Democratic Party members wanting to run for delegate to the party's national convention in Boston in July have until March 18 to submit their applications.
Caucuses to selecte the delegates will be held on April 17 in both districts, according to the V.I. chair, James O'Bryan Jr.
Application forms are available in the public libraries, O'Bryan said in a release.
One man and two women are to be selected for the St. Thomas-St. John district, and two men and one woman from the St. Croix district.
The V.I. delegation will have six votes at the national convention, apportioned according to the following formula: Each of the six delegates to be elected will have one-half vote. The national committee members (the V.I. chair, vice chair, national committeeman and national committeewoman) each will have one-fourth vote. The governor and the delegate to Congress each will have one vote.
