A SENIOR WINNER WILL ALSO REIGN AT CARNIVAL 2004

Jan. 23, 2003 – Senior women are going to have their own pageant as part of Carnival 2004, as the V.I. Carnival Committee adds another major pageant to the schedule: The American Classic Pageant.
This pageant will focus, a release said, on giving recognition to mature women (more than 60 years of age) through their achievements, accomplishments and goals. Along with the age requirement, participants are required to submit an application, a cover letter and recommendations from community clubs or organizations.
The winner will join a select group of senior pageant alumnae, including Ruth DeGout Smith, Lynette Simmonds, Lucille Perez Solomon, Carol Tuohy, Melbor Marlene Boschulte, and Gemma Noel-Soogrim. Billye Mayo is not only 2003 "Ms. V.I. American Classic Seniors Woman of the Year," she's also the first Virgin Islander to win the national title of "Ms. American Classi Woman of the Year."
The committee has partnered for the American Classic Pageant with Cheryl Plaskett, who has more than 15 years of experience with local, regional and national senior pageants.
Any organizations or businesses interested in this promotional opportunity are encouraged to get involved early.
For more information, call Cheryl Plaskett at 774-5265 or the Carnival Committee office at 776-3112.
