FRIENDS OF LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP MEETING

The Friends of the St. Thomas Public Libraries will hold a general membership meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Enid Baa Library on Main Street.
Everyone is welcome, a release said: members, family, potential members, and interested community members.
On the agenda:
— There's good news about the new library and input is needed to present the community's wishes at a Senate hearing to finalize the plans.
— Rodney Miller Sr., chief executive officer of the Roy L. Schneider Hospital, will speak about the Friends' volunteer projects at the hospital.
— Some of the collections that have been purchased for the library in the last year (Audio, Spanish Language, Young Adult, African) will be on view.
— Carol Lotz-Felix will be honored. She's been president of the Friends for the past two years and is leaving the board to pursue other projects.
— Lou-Ellen Brown, a stalwart supporter of the Friends for many years, will be honored.
— Tribute will be paid to Kenneth Broome, who undoubtedly wins the prize for being the longest user of Enid Baa Public Library and who deserves to be rewarded for his continuing service on the board.
— A free Page-a-Day Book Lover's Calendar will go to everyone who becomes a member.
— New board members and officers for the coming year will be elected. Candidates are Karen Andrews, Basil Bassue, Anita Davis, Felicia Leipzig, and perhaps others as yet unannounced.
— Programs planned for 2004 will be announced.
— The Baa Library will be open for tours, applying for cards and checking out new books.
— Refreshments, described as "a large spread of food," will be offered to attendees.
