5TH ANNUAL ANTIQUES, ART AUCTION IS SET

Jan. 11, 2003 – The fifth annual Antiques, Art and Collectibles Auction, presented by the Hebrew Congregation of St. Thomas, will be held Feb. 1 at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center.
Previews will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 31 and 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 1. The auction begins at noon, with Bruce Wilson of St. Croix again as the auctioneer. Brian Katz of the Old Stone Farmhouse will provide food. Proxy bidding will be available.
Selected items – including photographs, jewelry and wood creations by Avelino Samuel of St. John – will be sold at the Jan. 31 preview. All sale tables will be open at 10 a.m. Feb. 1.
Among special items being offered: four Camille Pissarro pieces, two of them with a St. Thomas connection; two four-poster beds, a rare Baccarat crystal coffee table, and collections from Philip Sturm, the Lillian Hopfner Langford estate, and Sean Krivatch.
