AMY BURNS SHORT, JOHN WILLIAMS TO WED

Dec. 15, 2003 – Amy Louise Burns Short and John Mark Williams will be married on Dec. 21 in a private ceremony in Mesa, Arizona.
Burns Short, currently of Murray, Kentucky, lived on St. Thomas from 1980 to 1995. She played the piano and sang at a number of resorts and restaurants; worked at the V.I .Daily News; was a freelance contributor to the V.I. Business Journal, Island Trader and Nautical Scene; and taught French at Leonard Dober and Joseph Sibilly Elementary Schools and Charlotte Amalie High School.
A graduate of University of the Virgin Islands, she has a master's degree in teaching English as a second language from Murray State University, where she teaches English composition, is completing a specialist in education degree and is pursuing a second master's degree in English studies. She plans to enroll in a doctoral program at Arizona State University.
Williams is a resident of Mesa and a graduate of Arizona State University. He is a reference librarian at the Mesa campus of Maricopa Community College.
The couple became engaged last May. As of the conclusion of the 2003-04 academic year, the Williams family — including 7-year-old Carl Bradley Short — will reside in Mesa.
