Dec. 4, 2003 St. John's postmistress, Glenn Jackson, will speak at a public forum sponsored by the St. John Business and Professional Women's Organization Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Legislature building on St. John.
A statement sent from the BPW said that Jackson will discuss plans for the island's post office and answer questions from the public.
Erica McDonald, who serves as the organization's vice president, said that she didn't know what plans Jackson plans to talk about.
Several years ago, the Postal Service held hearings on St. John to discuss moving the post office, possibly to an area outside Cruz Bay that had sufficient parking. That move never materialized.
McDonald noted that there were issues raised by BPW members, including that the package trailer is sometimes unattended.
Jackson, reached at the St. John Post Office in Cruz Bay, said she couldn't talk to the media.
"I'm not authorized to do so," she said.
