Dec. 3, 2003 – The Board of Education announced on Wednesday that it has hired Tregenza Roach as its new executive director.
Roach, a St. Thomas lawyer who has been legal counsel to the Education Department for the last eight years, assumed his new position on Dec. 1, according to a release.
The school board chair and president, Harry Daniel, said the body is appreciative of the knowledge and experience Roach brings to the position as a result of his work with the department. "It is a critical time for the board and for the territory as we continue to address varied responsibilities under local law, the No Child Left Behind Act, and the compliance agreement with the U.S. Department of Education," Daniel said.
Roach succeeded Evadney Hodge, who retired earlier this year but continued to work at the request of the board until Nov. 7. From then until Dec. 1, Laurie Isaac, the board's business and finance director, served as acting executive director, the release stated.
