NEGOTIATION & MEDIATION WORKSHOP IN DECEMBER

We are extremely pleased to announce that the University of Notre Dame Law School and the Stitt Feld Handy Group, will be coming to the US Virgin Islands to conduct a 4-day certificate workshop on negotiation and mediation (ADR) on December 9-12.
The workshop is designed for managers, human resource professionals, government employees, businesspeople, educators, labour relations specialists, health care professionals, lawyers, people who want to be professional mediators, and others who negotiate or deal with conflict.
Experience indicates that the best way for people to develop negotiation and mediation skills is through practice and interactive exercises, rather than lectures. The Notre Dame / Stitt Feld Handy Group ADR workshop involves a combination of real world cases, thought-provoking discussions, group exercises, lectures, demonstrations, and videos.
Under the guidance of leading international ADR trainers, participants will hone their skills in an environment that offers the opportunity for intensive practice and self-analysis. At the end of each workshop, participants will leave with a binder of reference materials, a Certificate from Notre Dame Law School, and a host of new skills that will help them negotiate better and resolve conflict quickly and effectively.
At the workshop participants will learn how to use Principled Negotiation, developed at Harvard, and learn how to mediate disputes. They will develop the practical skills and techniques needed to resolve disputes effectively and with confidence. This workshop will give participants the tools to manage conflict constructively in the workplace and at home.
Participants will learn how to:
– handle difficult issues
– deal with emotional people
– negotiate your way out of thorny situations
– resolve disputes while preserving relationships
– mediate disputes
"Enormous learning opportunity with immediate potential for growth, self reflection and analysis to see beyond (outside) your paradigm. The facilitators were excellent, very interactive with participants, they established great rapport."
Claudia Gigi Gruber, Village of Itasca, Illinois, USA
The lead instructor for the ADR workshop is Paul Godin. He is a Toronto-based mediator, attorney, negotiator, facilitator, trainer, ADR systems designer and litigator at the Stitt Feld Handy Group. He lectures for courses in Negotiation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) at the University of Toronto and the University of Windsor Law Schools. He has taught courses throughout the Caribbean, in Canada and Australia.
