HOSPITAL NOW REQUIRES VISITORS TO GET BADGES

Dec. 2, 2003 – As a security measure, Roy L. Schneider Hospital and Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center are now requiring visitors to wear identification badges while on the premises.
The new policy requiring the issuance of badges by security personnel took effect this week. It also applies to persons visiting the hospital's community health clinic, according to a release distributed on Tuesday.
Visitors must check in at the security desk in the hospital lobby, the clinic or the St. John center, according to the release. They are required to sign in and to submit a driver's license, passport, birth certificate, voter registration card or other identification document. In return they are issued a visitor's badge.
As they are leaving the facilities, the visitors sign out, surrender their badges to the security personnel and receive their personal I.D. documents in return.
The release noted that hospital and clinic employees were already wearing I.D. badges while on the premises prior to this week. Anyone with questions about the new procedure is invited to call 776-8311, ext. 1003.
