ROTARY DISTRICT GOVERNOR VISITING LOCAL CLUBS

Nov. 10, 2003 – The Rotary Clubs of St. Thomas and St. John are hosting the visit this week of Rotary International's District 7020 governor, Keith Daley of Jamaica.
The district comprises Anguilla, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Martin, Sint Maarten and the Turks and Caicos Islands, in addition to the U.S. Virgins.
Daley will speak at meetings involving all five clubs and meet with their boards of directors to discuss their plans for the year and the goals of Rotary International. The meetings are scheduled for:
Wednesday at 7:15 a.m. — the new Sunrise Club, which will have its charter presentation, at Hard Rock Café.
Wednesday noon – St. Thomas II and Charlotte Amalie Clubs, at Marriott Frenchman's Reef Beach Resort.
Thursday noon — St. Thomas Club and Inner Wheel Club, at Frenchman's Reef.
Friday at 6:30 p.m. — St. John and St. Thomas East Clubs, at the Westin Resort.
Daley also will attend the annual Paul Harris Dinner on St. Thomas, which will be held Saturday night at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort. According to Rotarian Greg Miller, "This is the annual get-together of the members of all the clubs on St. Thomas and St. John to honor Paul Harris Fellows" — individuals who have donated $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation or have had such donations made in their names. The foundation funds projects all over the world, the major one being the eradication of polio.
Miller said Rotary East will not hold its regular Wednesday meeting at the Ritz-Carlton this week because of the joint meeting Friday on St. John. Members are asked to take the 6 p.m. ferry from Red Hook, he said.
Other events coming up of interest to Rotarians are leadership and team-building seminars at Rotary East meetings on Nov. 19 and 26; and the Compass Point Arts Festival on Nov. 29-30, where Rotary East will have a fund-raising booth. Meanwhile, Rotary East members are continuing to sell this year's Dining Out coupon books, which offer two-for-one entrees and other specials at numerous restaurants on St. Thomas and St. John.
