Has the VI just totally gone Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs? I cannot say that I agree with all of the governor's decisions, choices, etc., and in fact I know for a fact that he's made some very bad decisions, but unfortunately a recall is not going to solve the problem. Are we saying that Richards is somehow a better candidate to fill in if a recall actually happens? Get real people. Sometimes I wonder if some of the people of the VI are all on crack. We continue to divide, and divide and divide. There's no sense of a collaborative spirit to work together to get things done. It's complain this and complain that, let's vote for my friend versus let's vote for someone that is competent to get the job done in the first place. Let's vote for the person who throws the best "jam" and gives the best turkey dinners for Thanksgiving. That's the standards we hold our political leaders to. Who's the prettiest, who's the cutest, who's the tallest, who's the sharpest, who can promise the most crap. What do you expect?
We need to take that finger that's pointing to the governor and point it back at ourselves. The integrity of these islands have gone amuck. And my point is, one man didn't cause this, we all did. Look in the mirror and ask yourself how did you contribute to this problem, and then ask yourself what can you do to make it better.
If a recall is the best damn answer you all can come up with, then the VI is really in some trouble. What's sad is that some of us just don't get it. It doesn't matter who you place in that position, or recall from that position. Without a collective approach to government as a community and as a people, be prepared to have many more recalls in the future. If your commissioners, senators and other government officials are also incompetent, you could have JFK as the damn governor, and he still will fail.
Wake up people. Work from a place of inclusion, togetherness. Refuse to place incompetent people in these positions in the first place, do your research, demand political debates (instead of a damn Jam Band jam) from candidates. Shake them up and shake them out first. We continue to be viewed as a bunch of local hypochondriacs who don't know what we're doing when we pull political antics such as this. Stop the madness.
Say a prayer and allow the presence of God into the VI Government, for healing and for progress. God Bless the US Virgin Islands and its people.
I'll be praying for all of you.
