V.I. LEGAL ASSISTANTS GROUP CELEBRATES 20 YEARS

Oct. 30, 2003 — The V.I. Association of Legal Assistants is celebrating its 20th anniversary with two public events.
It has been 20 years since the formation of this organization, said a release, and in that time it has promoted the legal-assistant profession, provided educational programs, and contributed with commitment to providing excellent service to the legal arena, both locally and nationally.
Wilma Hart Smith, the St. Thomas-St. John District Recorder of Deeds, and Helen C. Owens, founder of social service programs in the territory, will be honored by the association at a recognition luncheon from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Pilgrim Terrace on Mafolie Hill.
The association is also hosting a gala dinner dance from 6:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Renaissance Grand Beach Resort.
The community is invited to both events. Tickets are available by calling 775-5800. The luncheon is $40 and the dinner dance is $75.
