Dear Source,
I love St. Croix and want to move back with my family someday, but the current state has me looking into other options. I couldn't agree more with Mr. [Arnold] Golden's statements in Financial situation worse than described. As Virgin Islanders, we are often short-sighted and tend to elect people who are inexperienced and lack responsibility. Most of the people in the V.I. government were elected or placed in positions of power based on what their last name is or by whom they know. The Virgin Islands are bursting with experienced, non-biased, objective professionals who would and could run this territory into success. The people, however, have a tendency to think of now and forget the ill-treatments that they have received over and over again.
How could a Governor have no idea or clue that the financial situation is as bad as it is? I bet he knows where every dime from his personal checking account goes, or when he's getting low on cash.
Why does the lottery committee need 52 employees? I now live in South Carolina in a town of 50,000 where we have the Powerball along with numerous games, and we don't even have 52 employees.
What is the Inspector General doing about all his "findings"? It's great that he is finding things, but if no punishment or solutions are being implemented, then he falls into the same category as the residents.
As residents, we need to take our island back. Why are we not holding our government officials accountable and stopping them from passing the buck? We elected them and we can remove them.
It's embarrassing the way every elected official and person of power stands before the people and the press and states "It's not my fault. It's someone else's." How long are we going to tolerate this? When are we going to bring in people of experience and get rid of these imposters? As long as we continue to speak, but not act, their lack of experience, knowledge and willingness to do good for the people will only continue to bring disaster to the Virgin Islands.
