May 12, 2003 – "By the Sea, By the Sea, By the Beautiful Sea" is the title of Pistarckle Theater's presentation of three one-act plays with a reception, dinner and a silent auction on Saturday night.
The one-night-only presentation, Pistarckle's annual fund-raiser, is of works by Joe Pintauro, Lanford Wilson and Terrence McNally, all directed by Robert Larsen. "These three acts are presented as a whole," Pistarckle artistic director Nicola Emerich says.
The evening gets under way at 6 p.m. with a champagne reception in the Tillett Gardens courtyard. Dinner with a cash bar and the silent auction follows at 7 p.m. in the air-conditioned theater in the garden. The night's entertainment is to begin at 8 p.m.
"By the Sea" stars Luanne Eisenhauer, Michael Kuich, Linette Oliver, Alison Steir, Trudy Tucker and Gabriel Vargas.
Larsen "comes to us from New York with Broadway directing credits," Emerich says.
"It will be a fun night," she pledges.
Tickets are $95. Tables may be reserved.
Thanks to lots of volunteer labor — with Craig Long the chief laborer — and donated materials, the theater building has undergone a facelift, including a renovated lobby area.
The fund-raiser concludes Pistarckle's 2002-03 theatrical season, which also included the production of four plays and two staged readings.
Proceeds from the fund raiser will benefit the Pistarckle children's summer camp and other young people's programs at the theater. The production for this year's camp will be "The Mad
Adventures of Mr. Toad," a musical based on the Kenneth Grahame classic "The Wind in the Willows."
The four-week camp, which will be held at the theater, is open to students 9 to 18 years of age. Participants will get hands-on experience in acting, singing, dancing, costume design and set design and building. The camp runs from June 16 through July 13 and the fee is $750.
